Over the past year, Kriska Holdings Ltd. (KHL) has been refining and enhancing the training process for our elite Over the Road (OTR) Driver Trainers. While they possess a wealth of experience, there's always more to learn from different subject matter experts. We worked with our training partner, the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) and Instructor, Brad Bird, to upgrade our training standards. In July, he visited the Kriska Mississauga terminal to run cross-training with our Trainer teams in Prescott and Mississauga.
Well-educated Trainers are critical for any training program to be a success. It is way more than just sitting there and checking off a few boxes. Brad taught our Certified In-Cab Evaluation Team what to do during a Road Test. This in-depth program covered Adult Education Training Tips and Techniques, Road Test Route Planning and Road Test Evaluations. Our OTR Trainers who participated in the two-day course provided positive feedback.
Kriska's Howard Wright remarked, "It was a very good course. I learned a lot from it. Training on how to better evaluate and layout testing and grading procedures will help me be a better evaluator."
As our KHL Training team began to grow, we had more trainers to be certified. Recognizing our success and growth, other KTG companies joined our most recent course. Trainers from Mill Creek Motor Freight, Trailwood Transport KTG's newest family member Transport N Service joined the KHL Trainers for the two-day training at IHSA offices. Having a set standard for training will benefit all KTG companies, and we can achieve this by working with the knowledgeable professionals at IHSA.
